Congregational Church of Batavia

COMMUNITY

Creating connections between people and building a strong community

Our church community includes not only those who worship together here on Sundays (and other times, especially around Christmas and Holy Week) but also the Batavia Nursery School, and Boy Scout Troop 43. We are intentional about creating connections between people and building a strong community.

The Connection Team coordinates the responsibilities and activities of the church, working as a recruiting office and clearinghouse for volunteering. In addition to the Ministry Teams, there are subteams to handle such functions as Sunday morning activities outside of worship (coffee, for instance); planning fellowship and fundraising events; and caring for members in times of stress . If you’re interested in serving in any of these ways, the church office can get you in contact with Connection chair Susan Price.

Fellowship

Our fellowship activities offer a variety of events for all ages and interests to let our members share time with each other and have fun together.

Some of the events include:

  • Picnics and Potlucks
  • Family movie nights
  • Hanging of the greens

Check our Upcoming Events or Facebook for upcoming events.

Caring

In our family of faith, we care and pray for each other in a variety of ways. "love your neighbor as yourself," Jesus taught; and Paul tells us that we are to "bear one another's burdens." The Connection ministry team recruits members of our church community to be available for our church family members in their time of need with meals, rides, visits and more. If you need assistance, please contact our Pastor at 630-879-1999 or email.

Outreach

The Outreach Team looks to be the hands and feet of Jesus by helping (mostly) local human service organizations meet their goals. We offer our time, talent and financial resources to these local organizations, with activities including our Christmas Gift Fair and service projects, as well as coordinating our giving to denominational charities.

“I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in,
I needed clothes and you clothed me,
I was sick and you looked after me,
I was in prison and you came to visit me."

— Matthew 25:35-37
