Education Series Continues with Dr. Michael Graves
Dr. Michael Graves will present “The Gospel of Thomas and Other Early Jesus Sayings” as the third topic in our adult Christian Education series at the Congregational Church of Batavia. Dr. Graves, is the author of How Scripture Interprets Scripture, Biblical Interpretation in the Early Church, and The Inspiration and Interpretation of Scripture.
The Gospels are not the only place we can find sayings and stories attributed to Jesus of Nazareth. We can find such
“quotes” in the book of Acts, some of the Epistles, the writings of early Church Fathers, and the enigmatic and fascinating Gospel of Thomas. Join Dr. Michael Graves for an exploration of all of these sources, with an emphasis on the extra-biblical Gospel of Thomas, as we investigate some of the earliest witnesses to Jesus and his teaching.
Dt. Graves will be presenting this series over four weeks, on Sundays, October 25, November 1, November 15 at 11:15 am, at the Congregational Church of Batavia, 21 S. Batavia, IL. There is no admission fee and all are welcome. For more information, contact info@congregationalchurch.org or call 630-879-1999.
