Experience Worship

At the Congregational Church of Batavia we strive to create meaningful worship experiences through a process we call “Experience Worship.”

           E            “Experience Worship” is a long-range worship

X             planning system designed to create clarity of

P             message, synergy of ideas, and individual creative

E            input on the worship services through brainstorming.

I             We began the long-term brainstorming process in

E            February 2008. Participants developed ideas for

N            worship themes and narrowed them down to their top

C            choices. The staff then put those choices onto the

E            calendar and began working with the worship team to

develop subtopics and find supporting scripture.

In July 2008, we began the weekly brainstorming process for the services in September, and since then, we have continued planning themes six months ahead and individual services two months ahead.

Everyone in the congregation is welcome to participate! You may add your ideas at the theme-developing meetings held bi-annually. You may also participate in the weekly brainstorming meetings, held Tuesdays at 10:00 am.   We also welcome ideas submitted through email, on paper, or in person at any time.

For further details as to how you can participate, contact Vicki Linich, Director of Worship and Music.

Worship Team

The Worship Team is responsible for developing the long term vision and goals of the congregation within the context of our worship services. The members of the team work together with the staff in the Experience Worship brainstorming process. The Worship Team also envisions ideas for special services, such as Christmas Eve and Maundy Thursday, and oversees the implementation of these ideas.

The Worship Team meets once a month, usually on a Thursday evening. For more information, contact the church office.

Drama

We frequently incorporate skits, reader’s theater, pantomime, and other dramatic elements into our services. If you are interested in participating, contact the church office.

Visual Arts/Decorations

From an artist sketching a portrait live during a worship service to a slide show during a praise song, from flowers to props to bulletin covers, visual arts and decorations are an integral part of our worship services. If you wish to share your gifts in this area, contact the church office.
