Director of Youth Ministries Job Search Update

Here is an update on the status of our search for a new Director of Youth Ministries. The job description has been revised and updated to reflect an average of twenty (20) hours per week time commitment. The position has been posted on the placement websites of several local seminaries. These postings may return individuals who are looking for a part time position while they complete their seminary educations or those who are seeking an internship. In addition, the position will be posted on both the Fox Valley Association's website and the Illinois Conference websites, both for clerical and lay job-seekers.

The Congregational Church of Batavia is seeking a Director of Youth Ministries. We are a medium-sized church located in the Fox Valley. We see ourselves as a congregation that acknowledges the role of regular, theologically sound worship services in personal and corporate growth; that strives to treat people of all ages, genders, religious backgrounds (and any other “group” status) with respect and dignity (as indicated by our having chosen “Open and Affirming status as a congregation.); and that values its members, new and longer term. We have strong and growing children’s and youth ministries.

The purpose of this position is to provide vision, creativity, and leadership in delivering Christian Faith Formation activities for middle and high school youth. Key responsibilities are to coordinate, implement, enhance, and evaluate youth programming at church; create a safe environment in which young people can express themselves; work with parents to foster program support; recruit and encourage adult volunteers; plan and coordinate mission trips and retreats; maintain accurate records of activities; and participate in the annual budgeting process and monitor expenses.

The position is open to either lay or clergy. It is a part time position, averaging 20 hours per week. While a bachelor’s degree would be considered a plus, it is not required. For further information or to apply send an email to
