The Justice and Witness Ministry Team will be offering a Green Faith Bible Study in January to expand our understanding of our sacred relationship with our Earth. We have watched the Paris Climate Conference and prayed for its success. Now it is time for us individually and as a church to study the scriptures and environmental texts and make our New Year’s resolutions to promote responsible change.
The United Church of Christ says that Green Justice “is about a transformation of our hearts and minds to see God’s creation in new ways that lead to living in new ways. It is about acting on new values in [our] life and in the life of [our] community.” (Justice and Environmental Ministries, UCC.org)
Green Faith Bible study opportunities will be scheduled as follows:
Sunday, January 3, 10, and 17 a group will meet from 6:00-7:00 pm led by Irene Crane and Karen Kosky in the church library
Wednesday, January 6, 13, and 20 the Women’s Bible Study will meet from 9:30-11:00 am in Paxton Hall led by Lindsey Huddleston and Ellen Hamilton
Wednesday, January 6, 13, and 20 a group will meet from 5:30-7:00 pm led by Theresa Daunheimer in the church library. For those who wish dinner, this group has been invited by LOGOS to pick up their dinner at 5:30 pm in Paxton Hall before going to the library. A free-will offering is suggested.
A sign-up sheet will be on the bulletin board for anyone interested to reserve a place in a Bible Study group. If you have questions please contact Lindsey Huddleston, firstname.lastname@example.org or call 630-482-9626.
